Heaven Solomon: Leading with Language and Culture at UNB

Heaven Solomon, a proud Wolastoqey educator and advocate, is using her voice and leadership to advance Indigenous language revitalization at the University of New Brunswick and beyond. As a graduate student and language coordinator, she integrates cultural identity, land-based learning, and community engagement to inspire the next generation. Her story highlights the power of education rooted in heritage and the importance of reclaiming language as a pathway to healing and strength.

Heaven Solomon

Heaven Solomon is a Wolastoqey language educator and the Cultural and Language Coordinator for Tobique Education. She holds a Bachelor of Education and is currently pursuing her Master of Education in Administration and Leadership at the University of New Brunswick. She is also a graduate of the Maliseet Language Immersion Program delivered through St. Thomas University in Neqotkuk. In 2022, Heaven was crowned Miss New Brunswick and used her platform to promote the importance of Wolastoqey language and culture. She continues to support community-based language efforts and helped shape the vision for Neqotkuk’s future language home.
